The Ephemeral series explores the fleeting quality of time. The drawings are free drawn with flour to signify the transient nature of movement. As these drawings are very fragile and unstable and are swept away with a brush when finished, they are photographed to preserve the image, as if trying to preserve the flow and energy of the moment as it becomes past.
The waterless lithograph, Newtonian Dancers, talk of Newton’s theory about time. In his view, we don’t have free will. He believed that everything in nature is predetermined and will not be influenced by our actions or decisions. In this piece, the dancers are free to move in whatever way they desire; only this is just an illusion. They are just puppets guided by their destiny.
