SWEET OBLIVION 2015 - 2016
The Sweet Oblivion series is concerned with human expansion mirrored in a microscopic, cellular level. The microcosm is contrasted with the vastness of time and space. Chaos and order co-exist leaving us in “sweet oblivion” of the universal natural dynamics, the “oneness” and inter-connectivity that govern our existence.
The drawings and monotypes are done on Japanese Kozo paper which is often stretched over wooden boards and in the case of the pieces with black background, the paper is painted and sprayed black with acrylic paint. Jana uses archival ink pens of varied weights, carbon paper and white transfer paper to make the drawings. The artwork consists of hundreds/thousands of tiny individually hand drawn circles/cells and there is a meditative quality to the creative process.
